Hi Ken - it depends on the use case, in my opinion. I always download to my hard drive or somewhere on the network if I need to share. I always remember when I download from BI I start to lose the "single source of the truth".
Re: Export format from BO
Re: Export format from BO
I can appreciate that, and fully agree.
However I am trying to figure out if advise I was given is correct or not so if there is a way for BO to do as I describe or if I have to find some other Workaround.
So if you have knowledge of a solution offical or not I am very interested in knowing more.
You are very welcome to contact me directly via PM if you feel it is a discussion better taken outside the SCN forums.
Re: Export format from BO
Hi Ken - to recap, what was the advice? If the advice was there was no way to download to CSV/Excel, it was wrong. Reasons to download could be your users do not have access to BI and need the information.
But remember these BI tools aren't an ETL (extract, transform load) tool and it is advisable to only do this when necessary.
Re: Export format from BO
Yes the advise was no way.
And the reason for doing this is to support a very specific data load into a third party Marketing Automation Tool - so the reasoning behind is well thought out. reasons for letting BO handle the process instead of the ETL Tool was user transparancy (No we are not using SAP BW nothing ever has to be easy right? )
Re: Export format from BO
OK, I see.
Yes, several companies do what you are describing but for sure it is not a best practice to let BI be your ETL tool...always dangerous and it puts an unnecessary load on BI.
Re: Export format from BO
So the NeXT logical question can you point me to a written ressource that can explain how to do it?
Re: Export format from BO
Data Services is a good ETL tool -- you may have a license for it already depending on your license agreement with SAP - see Data Services and Data Quality
BO Analysis standard workbook
Hi all,
we are migrating some BEx workbooks to BO Analysis for office 1.4. As for our first try it worked really good in our opinion. We just have some question regarding the "got to" functionality and standard workbooks.
We created a standard workbook which we used as template for all our BEx reports. After migration we still have all the template look and feel but we want to use that created standard workbook for all our Analysis reports also when we use the "go to"/ "report to report interface" function.
For example:
The user will open a report workbook saved within the BW repository. For further analysis he/she wants to "drill down" to another query. With right click onto the table and selecting the "Go to" functionality the desired query is available as we configured all that within the query designer and the BW. By selecting the query, a new workbook opens without any layout or standard workbook look&feel. Just a new workbook with standard excel layout opens and the query result is entered from cell A1 to xyz.
We would love to have that report opened with a standard look and feel but can not find any way for this. Therefore we would need a template or standard workbook functionality so that every Analysis reports which will open, will have that basis template look&feel.
Could anyone provide help for that issue or is this not available in the Analysis version 1.4?
Many thanks in advance and just the best,
Katja
Re: BO Analysis standard workbook
Sorry for the delay in this
Have you looked at creating style sheet/sets?

Re: NVL in prompt on date in derived table
Hi
derived table will not pass null values using @prompt
use this formula
To_date(CASE WHEN @prompt(':bind variabe','D',,mono,free,persistent,{'01/01/2099'}) = '01/01/2099' then to_char(ch.end_date) else @prompt(':bind variabe','D',,mono,free,persistent,{'01/01/2099'}) END)
for only in this situation it will work ch.end_date=NVL(:end date,ch.end_date)
thanks

Re: Universe Error: Error getting hierarchies for dimension 0INFOPROV (Cube XXXX): Hierarchy does not exist
Did you find any solution to this problem? I'm facing the same error on a BW 7.31 SP9 with a BO 4.1 SP2. I've created both programs ZRSR_REPAIR_INFOAREAHIER and ZZ_REPAIR_HIEDIR and executed them, as mentioned in SAP notes 954673 and 1530624, but I'm still facing the error and all other SAP notes I've found related to this issue say to update to higher SPs but all of them are previous versions of BW 7.31 SP09. Anyone has solved this issue or have any suggestion?
Help would be very appreciated!!
Thank you and regards,
"Cannot get the cube from the connection: (WIS 00000)" error is raised
Hi ,
we have some reports built on top of BEX query , but all of sudden all reports are giving this following error ,
"Cannot get the cube from the connection: <connection_name> (WIS 00000)"
I am using BI4.1
and Server is built on LINUX .

Re: "Cannot get the cube from the connection: (WIS 00000)" error is raised
The only thing I could find is this is tracked in an ADAPT per this KBA http://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1610931> could you look at this KBA and track the ADAPT and ensure you have the SP/fix pack installed?
Re: "Cannot get the cube from the connection: (WIS 00000)" error is raised
Thanks for the reply ,
i have gone through this note still no solution.
I am using BI4.1 and SP2
Re: "Cannot get the cube from the connection: (WIS 00000)" error is raised
You may then need to submit a SAP Support ticket.
Is the tool Web Intelligence?
Re: "Cannot get the cube from the connection: (WIS 00000)" error is raised
I checked with BO development system ,it works fine there
i can generate reports .
Analysis edition for OLAP - Export to excel issue
Hi Team,
I have an issue in Analysis edition for OLAP reports while exporting to excel. Actually, The current version of the report has 100000 rows. When I tried to export the data to excel, I am getting an error saying that the number of rows cannot exceed 65536. How do we resolve this issue?
By default the downloaded format of excel is 2003. So, we have limitations in 2003 excel formats as below:
Worksheet size 65,536 rows by 256 columns
Is there any possibility to change the type of the excel to .xlsx (Excel - 2007)?
Regards,
Krishna..

Re: Analysis edition for OLAP - Export to excel issue
Thanks for the reply Tammy,
We are using BI 4.0 SP5 patch 13. So, the only option is to upgrade to BI 4.1 SP4?

Krishna..
Re: Analysis edition for OLAP - Export to excel issue
I don't work for SAP but I do know they have encouraged customers to move/ upgrade to BI 4.1
